There are eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites found in Sri Lanka. They are the Ancient Cities of Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya, the Old Town of Galle and its Fortifications, the Rangiri Dambulla Cave Temple, the Sacred Cities of Anuradhapura and Kandy, the Central Highlands of Sir Lanka, and the Sinharaja Forest Reserve.
The official languages of Sri Lanka are Sinhala and Tamil, both deeply influenced by Indian, European, Southeast Asian, and Arab settlers. English is recognized as the official second language.
As Sri Lanka is prone to a heavy monsoon season, the best time to visit the country would be between the months of December and April.
