Ashford Castle

County Mayo, Ireland

Why You Will Love It

Forget finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow in Ireland – we would rather find the magnificent Ashford Castle! Excellence is the name of the game when it comes to Ashford Castle, whether it’s each uniquely decorated room, the gourmet dining, the award-winning spa, the sincere and hospitable staff, or the endless activities. The former estate of Lord Ardilaun and the Guinness family, Ashford Castle lives up to its reputation as one of the best hotels in Ireland (and the world!).

Defining Factor

The style. Ashford Castle still has the grandeur of a 13th century estate, but thanks to extensive renovations in 2014-2015, it has the modern comforts and amenities you would expect of a five-star hotel. The traditional Irish design creates a true sense of place that will make you feel like a Lord or a Lady!

Don't Leave Without

Enjoying some of the many activities offered. From falconry to fishing to boating, there is so much to do.

Be sure to share your top activity picks with your travel advisor. Some of these are truly bucket-list worthy, so booking in advance with your travel advisor is recommended!

There are several dining options at Ashford Castle, each offering a unique experience. For a more formal dining experience, the George V Dining Room offers gourmet cuisine in the most beautiful setting. On a more casual note, you can go to The Dungeon and enjoy traditional Irish cuisine. For a traditional Afternoon Tea, the Connaught Room is a beautiful setting, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the gardens. The Drawing Room is another lovely spot where you can relax with your morning coffee or light lunch. Open seasonally, Cullen's at the Cottage is a charming spot for a relaxed dining experience. And for a private dinner or wine tasting, you can go to the Wine Cellars.

Winter Wonderland

Ashford Castle is a fabulous spot for summer, but it is also great for a winter destination. Some of the rooms in the original part of the castle have working gas fires, or you can enjoy an Ashford Whiskey next to the open peat fire in the Billiards room. Ashford Castle also has a luxurious cinema room where you can watch a family favorite or classic film with fresh popcorn and snacks.
