Delta recently announced changes regarding transferring points from SkyMiles Partners. Read below to see how this Delta SkyMiles update might affect you and to learn how you can prepare for the change.
What: Delta recently announced that beginning January 1, 2015 there will be an annual 250,000 mile limit on point transfers from SkyMiles partner programs, like American Express Membership Rewards. Until that time, you can continue transferring miles in accordance with your existing SkyMiles program rules.
When: The change will go into effect January 1, 2015
Why: Delta explains that “by limiting the amount of points that can be transferred from other programs, we will increase the value of miles and also reduce demand for Award Tickets.” Read more about this change on the SkyMiles News & Updates page on their website under “Transferring Points from SkyMiles Partners” section of the General Program Updates, or click here: Delta SkyMiles Update.
So What? Some Awards Tickets require more than 250,000 miles. If you are planning to use you points to book flights with Delta, we suggest that you transfer your points before January 1, 2015.
If you have a Delta SkyMiles credit card, this will not affect you.
