5 Trips to Take With Your Mom

Trips-to-take-with-your-momAdvisor Michelle Cowell as a child with her mom.

There are only a handful of people around that have a never-ending, eternal love for us—and one of those is our mother. She loaded you in the car seat in the middle of the night to drive around the block when that was the only way you would fall asleep. She cut off the crusts to your sandwich for school, just the way you like it. She was in the stands at all your sporting events, cheering you on without the slightest acknowledgment that you were the worst not the star-player on the team. There really is no one in your life like your mom.

Celebrate her by planning a special trip for just the two of you. Both of you will cherish memories made during an international journey or a weekend away for years and years to come. Here are 5 trips to take with your mom.

5 Trips to Take with Your Mom

Shopping

Head to Paris for a fun shopping trip! The City of Lights is a fabulous place to take a getaway with your mom. The shopping, the cuisine, the museums, the culture—Paris is the perfect spot for a mother/daughter trip! Plan a picnic in one of Paris’ many parks. Shop ‘till you drop in the Galeries Lafeyette. Laugh over a bottle of Bordeaux. And most of all cherish this time together. If you want to stay stateside, plan a weekend in New York City or Chicago. Advisor Karen McAlpin met her mom and sister in NYC after spending 2.5 weeks in Asia!

European River Cruise

Cruise through some of Europe’s fabulous towns on an intimate river cruise. Make it extra special by planning your trip during the Christmas markets. The two of you can stroll through the charming markets, selecting items for family members back at home. Senior Travel Coordinator Amanda Foshee and her mom when on a river cruise in Germany. “We wandered the city together in search of great finds at the Christmas markets and chatted over a glass of wine at dinner each night.”

Spa Getaway

Take some time for a little R&R with your mom. Both of you will love getting to relax together and will leave the weekend feeling refreshed as well. Head to Canyon Ranch in Arizona for an inclusive experience. If you’re in the Southeast, head to the Old Edwards Inn & Spa in Highlands, NC. “My mom, sister, and I had the best time relaxing and reading in the spa, then laughing and reminiscing at one of the fabulous dinner outlets in Highlands,” said Social Media Assistant Brooke Drinkard. “It was such a special weekend!”

Island Oasis

Sometimes you just need a little sun and sand (and perhaps a drink in your hand!). Find a tropical paradise to escape to with your mom. Advisor Debbie Fairvalley and her daughter explored the Greek isles together in 2011 (anyone feel a scene from Mama Mia coming on?) as well as Venice on a Celebrity cruise.

Bucket List

Talk with your mom to discover a destination that is on both of your bucket lists. Do both of you love UNESCO sites? Or hiking? Or birding? Whatever you mutual love is, you can find a destination where you can celebrate it together. Advisor Sam McClure and her sister went to India with their mother—a truly special experience.
