When you think of Caribbean islands, chances are Canouan doesn’t come to mind – but it should! This charming island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines is home to the over-the-top amazing Mandarin Oriental, Canouan. Several of our advisors (lucky ducks!) got to visit this lovely property and were blown away. We share ten reasons why we love the Mandarin Oriental, Canouan – and why you will too – below:
With only 26 beautifully appointed suites, you’re not going to be racing to save pool chairs the moment the sun rises. Instead you can relax in your spacious suite (more on that later), go snorkeling, visit the beach of the day, play golf on the Tom Fazio-designed 18-hole course, or even hike up the mountain.
Large Rooms Suites
The resort may be small in terms of number of suites (yes, it is an all-suite property!), but the size of each is impressive. The entry level suite is nearly 1300 square feet. There is a mini fridge with water, sodas, and beer that is complimentary and restocked daily, a spacious living room, an expansive bathroom with a walk-in closet, and an outdoor space where you can soak up every moment on the island.
If you need even more space and privacy, there are seven villas that range from 2- to 3-bedrooms. In addition to the bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a living room, and a butler’s pantry, each villa comes with an infinity pool and Jacuzzi.
You can expect the exceptional service you know and love at a Mandarin Oriental, but this resort takes it a step further with butler service. From the moment you arrive, your personal butler is there to help you with whatever you need.
The Balinese-inspired spa has two overwater bungalows as well as hillside rooms accessible by funicular. Many treatment rooms have a hot tub on the patio so you can relax and soak up the view after your treatment.
Canouan is a virtually untouched island where there are more tortoises than people. It is only 3.5 miles wide, but the resort sits on a sprawling 1,200 acre estate. You won’t find the crowds that you will at other island destinations, but instead you’ll be able to recharge in paradise.
From the lobby to the pool to your suite to the spa, you’re going to have a stunning ocean view – no need to worry that some high-rise building will block it!
For a small resort (and even for a larger one!), there are plenty of dining options. The resort itself offers five restaurants and bars offering fresh produce and carefully curated menus. But that’s not all – the Mandarin Oriental, Canouan sits on the Grenadines Estate where four more restaurants are only a quick golf cart ride away.
Though the privacy and setting make this a perfect spot for couples, the Mandarin Oriental, Canouan is also great for families. There is a stunning, pirate-themed Kid’s Club with everything from its own pool to an in-ground trampoline to costumes. And speaking of pirates, the whole family can take a catamaran to see Tabago Cays where parts of Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed (but you’ll see more sea turtles than Captain Jack Sparrows!).
And don’t forget: as our client, you are privy to exclusive Mandarin Oriental Fan Club perks and upgrades!
