Spring has sprung in the south and 4 golfing girlfriends couldn't have
had better weather for our getaway this weekend at the Sanctuary on
Kiawah Island! We stayed in brand new over the top fabulous Maritime
villas right across the street from the beautiful Sanctuary
(appropriately named as we found "sanctuary" there on several days in the
relaxing spa)!
We played the famed "Ocean Course" - home to the 2012 PGA Championship
and I can't remember when I have enjoyed a round of golf as much as we
did on Friday. Perfect weather conditions for an amateur player (that
means very little wind, slower greens, and 72 degrees....) We actually
played quite well - thanks to our wonderful caddies, Brendan & Tony! I
may never want to play a round of golf again, without them! Walking
this magnificent course reminds us of the way golf SHOULD be played and
the fine tradition of fast paced play and strolls up a magnificent 18th
with a view that rivals St. Andrews!
Cocktails on the Sunset Patio of the Ocean Course clubhouse finished our
day "in style" and "thanks for the drinks" to those crazy fellows from
Philadelphia! It is very unique to watch the sunset over the Atlantic
coast (and this is one of the few spots on the Eastern seaboard that
makes this possible) - just another reason to come to Kiawah!
We loved swimming in the warm water of the seaside pool at the Sanctuary
and enjoying our massages at the end of another "rough day" on the
links.
I would recommend this inviting resort to other girlfriends looking for
a great getaway, a family wanting to spend some quality time together,
guys looking to play some of the best golf of their life, and couples
looking for a wedding spot or a honeymoon filled with romace and quiet
spaces.....
Thank you, Kiawah for helping us usher in Spring in such a wonderful
way!
